About the job

The Smart-Health Initiative’s Viral Vector Laboratory at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is now accepting applications for a job as a research technician. This innovative lab at KAUST intends to create gene delivery viral vectors by working with different university researchers to support their research objectives. Applicants must have prior knowledge of molecular and cell biological methods.

Working in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory on cell culture, nucleic acid purification and evaluation, and viral vectors are some of the specific duties involve. The selected candidate will be require to independently carry out laboratory tasks, help with solving issues, evaluate results, and present findings to the team.

Essential Job Duties

  • Set up and maintain analytical instruments, including system suitableness, calibration, and quality control.
  • Arrange work and equipment for optimal performance.
  • Analytical instrument performance should be monitore.
  • Samples should be prepare for analysis, data should be process, results should be accept, and basic instrument repairs should be made.
  • Keep record of documentation of compliance.
  • Participate in general tasks like housework to promote safe behavior.
  • Participate in teams and maintain a positive outlook on your job.
  • Ability to thrive alone and in a team environment.
  • Clear communication.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to deal with shifting tasks and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Experience in common molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as nucleic acid purification, gel electrophoresis, quantitative PCR, aseptic technique, and mammalian and microbial cell culture, as well as the willingness to pick up new techniques or platforms as needed.
  • B.A/B.S. or MS in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • It is necessary to have excellent organizational and data management abilities.
